Nashville, TN at The Ryman
For anyone that has spent even a brief moment with me will pick up on the fact that I love Walk the Moon. Coming from the same hometown, this relationship has been going on for years. I call it a relationship because thats what it feels like to me. Their music is there for me when I'm having a bad day, they are with me on road trips and in the past 3 years I've seen them over 10 times. In exchange for my emotional dependency, I give them photos from live shows. I've photographed them a handful of times, but this was different. What's a word for more than special? Monumental? Yea, it was a monumental weekend with this Ohio quartet.
They played 2 nights at The Ryman in Nashville, TN. For those that don't know, The Ryman is called "The Mother Church of Country Music" and has been walked on by Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Emmylou Harris. It is a huge honor to play this venue (which experts say have the best acoustics in the world) and I was lucky enough to get some access to their sold out show.
I have been to my fair share of concerts, probably a few people's shares, and I have never seen a band perform with such energy and connection to their audience. I watch them make eye contact with as many people as possible as they dance in beat to every hymn. The thing that puts my love for them over the top is their sincerity. There is no doubt that this is what these boys were meant to do and man do they love it. I can't even limit my affections just towards the band, but to the crew as well. I've met them and am lucky to call a few of them friends. The band and crew work as one big family and that is a pretty cool feat.
Just take my word for it and go see them for yourself. Your soul will thank you.
